After successful singles from their fourth album, Who We Are, Lifehouse has decided to release a third single, "Broken".

Frontman, Jason Wade, has announced that "Broken" will be the next single at recent shows, and fans seem to be very excited for the touching song to be released fo radio play.

Jason Wade explains that this song is probably the most personal one on this record to AlternativeAddiction.com:

“Broken is the song that moves me the most. I wrote it in Nashville, about 6 months ago,” Wade explained. “I was in my hotel room at 3 AM, I was out there visiting a friend…he’s really sick, he needs a kidney transplant.”

The friend that Wade speaks of is an artist as well and actually helped Wade write the track “Sick Cycle Carousel” on the band’s debut album.

“He has to do this dialysis machine for nine hours a day, and just to see my friend in that place was really overwhelming for me. I went back to the hotel room, and couldn’t sleep,” Wade said.

While sitting in his hotel room late that night, Wade was compelled to write “Broken.”

Incredibly charged with emotion from his ailing friend, Wade wrote the song in just 15 minutes on a hotel pad of paper.

“That song just kinda fell in my lap, and I really haven’t written a song like that since ‘Hanging by a Moment’ where it just happened within a 15 minute time period.”

“Broken” was also the last song that Wade wrote for the album, but he feels that writing it could be a definitive instant in songwriting career.

“I feel like those moments of inspiration, when you look back on them, really define you as an artist.”

MANILA, Philippines—Surprising news from MTV Philippines: the young American band Lifehouse, currently on a US tour, will swing by Manila for a one-night show on July 26 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Filipino fans who regularly check the band’s website couldn’t believe it at first, but are now ecstatic.

The good thing about the forthcoming concert is that Lifehouse leads a fresh batch of artists coming over for the first time. (Panic at the Disco, another young band, plays Aug. 14 also at the Big Dome.)

For those not tuned in to the current music scene, Lifehouse could be a stranger. But for those who happen to watch the hit TV series “Smallville,” Lifehouse is hot.

It started gaining a following eight years ago, when its debut album “No Name Face” (MCA) went platinum, propelled by three singles, first of which was “Hanging by a Moment.” Lifehouse founder Jason Wade (guitar/vocals) was said to have written the song in about 10 minutes.

Sounding like a post-grunge love tune, “Hanging by a Moment” went to No. 1 in the Australian Recording Industry Association Singles Chart, the Billboard Modern Rock, Adult Top 40 and Top 40 Tracks. Its highest spot in the Hot 100 was No. 2, but it was ultimately voted as the Song of the Year for 2001. It has become a favorite track at high school proms and weddings among the 20-something generation in the US. (The band’s other members then, including bassist Sergio Andrade and drummer Jon “Diff” Palmer, were of that age.)

7 on ‘Smallville’

Another single, “Everything,” was used in both the pilot and first-season finale episodes of “Smallville,” where the song was included in the first soundtrack, “Smallville: The Talon Mix.” This endeared the band to the show’s creators; Lifehouse went on to have seven songs played during the series’ first four seasons, ending with a live performance in the fourth-season prom episode, and landing yet another song, “You And Me (Wedding Version)” on “Smallville: The Metropolis Mix.”

In 2002 Lifehouse recorded its second album, “Stanley Climbfall.” It was reportedly not as successful as the first one. This was also the time when Andrade left the band to pursue individual projects.

In 2004 the band recorded its self-titled album, with Bryce Soderberg joining as full-time bassist. This was the year that “You and Me,” already familiar to fans for having graced the “Smallville” soundtrack, was heard on other American TV shows such as “Boston Legal,” “Gavin & Stacey,” “Everwood” and “Medium.”

Latest recording

“Who We Are,” the band’s latest recording (still with MCA), was released last year and features its current trio lineup of Wade, Soderberg and drummer Rick Woolstenhulme. The members describe the album’s sound: “It rocks a little harder.”

More than anything else, the inspiring aspect of a band like Lifehouse lies in how Wade overcame the odds that came with being a child of divorced parents.

He was 12 at the time, and was sort of a recluse who spent his days in his room where he began to scribble verses. In the Lifehouse entry on the Wikipedia website, Wade was quoted: “I was experiencing all the pain anyone feels when their parents get divorced. It opened up all this stuff. But it also opened up this creative outlet for me. It’s funny, because I was never a musical kid—never took lessons, never really listened to the radio. But I suddenly started writing lyrics and coming up with melodies. We lived in the woods; I’d take these long walks and the songs would just start happening.”

But even more inspiring is how Wade first played the acoustic guitar because it was just lying around the house. His mother owned it, and when he picked it up and learned his first few chords, he must have heard how good it would be to become a musician.

CORPUS CHRISTI — During its first decade as a band, Lifehouse has had times when it enjoyed huge success. The songs "Hanging by a Moment," from the group's 2000 debut CD, "No Name Face," and "You and Me," from its 2005 self-titled disc, became No. 1 hits.

The band's latest CD, "Who We Are," has yet to produce that kind of a blockbuster song. But one won't find Lifehouse singer/guitarist Jason Wade complaining.

"I'd rather have two or three songs do decent than have that huge smash like 'Hanging by A Moment' or 'You and Me,' where it sticks out so long that you can't get a follow-up single," Wade said in a recent phone interview. "That's always been our problem. We've had these huge hits, but we've never been able to connect with a second single."

"Who We Are" is breaking that pattern, and fans can hear some songs off that album Sunday when Lifehouse visits Concrete Street Amphitheater with opening act Honeyhoney..

Wade said he feels that this time, Lifehouse has a record with legs and that "Who We Are" may just be starting to really gain momentum with fans.

"I'm really happy with the way this record's doing," he said. "Especially it seems like when the songs are getting on the radio they're starting to perform really well and people are starting to call in.

"I don't think people are really aware that it's out there (yet)," Wade said. "I run into people on the road sometimes who don't even know there's a new record out. So I think the more the songs get saturated on the radio and the more the tour continues to go along, I think people will find out about the record."

Fortunately, he thinks "Who We Are" translates nicely to live performance and will remain fun to play for as long as the band, which also includes drummer Rick Woolstenhulme and bassist Bryce Soderberg, tours behind the CD.

"We wanted some more uptempo songs," Wade said. "We wanted to get a little bit more guitar based."

The band also avoided going overboard on overdubs and added instrumentation because it wanted the songs to translate well to live performance.

"There aren't a lot of elaborate string arrangements, mostly two guitars, bass and drums," Wade said. "So we wanted it to be as simple as possible and have as much energy as possible."

These, however, were about the only predetermined goals for "Who We Are."

"After that (first) record did really well, I kind of felt a lot of pressure on me to follow up that success," he said. "I think I got into a mindset where I was just kind of, not writing for other people, but I was definitely conscious of it. It's taken me like the last four or five years to kind of reprogram my mind to just think about the inspiration and the music and not really worry about the business aspect of it."

Lifehouse's spring tour, which mostly visits theaters, will allow the band to upgrade the visual aspects of its shows.

"We're bringing out our own lighting rig, and we've got some really big, blown up artistic banners," Wade said. "So the stage will be a little bit more decorated this time. It's definitely going to be just as much a visual (experience) as the songs."

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The fun begins on Tuesday night at Bud Walton Arena with country music star Taylor Swift and the rock group Lifehouse taking the stage.

On Wednesday you can see the All-American Rejects and Journey.

Thursday night you can catch the Latin Grammy award-winning Juan Luis Guerra at Barnhill Area.

Country music stars Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood will also take the stage Thursday night at Razorback Stadium.

This year all the concerts are open to the public, though Wal-Mart shareholders and employees get first dibs on the seats, and all shows are first-come, first-served at the door.

Lifehouse, in fact, is still in the early stages of touring behind "Who We Are." This spring, the band is playing its first run of headlining shows in major markets, and Wade expects the band to be on the road most of 2008.

The band is headlining Scott & Todd's 2008 Summer Blast-Off this morning at Jenkinson's in Point Pleasant Beach.

Fortunately for Jersey Shore fans, Wade thinks "Who We Are" translates nicely to live performance and will remain fun to play for as long as the band, which also includes drummer Rick Woolstenhulme and bassist Bryce Soderberg, tours behind the CD.

"We wanted some more uptempo songs," Wade said. "We wanted to get a little bit more guitar based. On our last record, the self-titled record, there were a lot of ballads and a lot of mid-tempo songs that I don't really feel were that exciting to play live. I don't know, it didn't move that well. Despite the open agenda, Lifehouse sounds like itself on the CD. As always, the band plays a well crafted style of rock-pop built around strong vocal melodies, straightforward guitar/drums/bass tracks and the occasional use of lush strings.

But as Wade noted, "Who We Are" rocks as frisky tunes such as "Disarray," "First Time," "Who We Are" and "Bridges" anchor the album, while ballads "Whatever It Takes" and "Broken" provide frequent changes of pace.

Lifehouse's spring/summer tour is allowing the band to upgrade the visual aspects of its shows.

The group's song set figures to emphasize "Who We Are" and "No Name Face."

"We're just trying to be sensitive to the fans and make sure we don't play too much new stuff because I know that a lot of people are still really attached to our first record," Wade said. "So we're trying to get a good balance between older songs and new songs."

Lifehouse is having 60 USC students compete in making their latest video for the song "Make Me Over".

"It will be the best video we will ever have made," says JASON WADE of LIFEHOUSE.

The band is giving 60 USC School of Cinematic Arts graduate students a chance to shoot the video for their new single, "Make Me Over."
The contest is sponsored by Heineken's USC graduate program.
"We want something we've never done before," Jason says. "We can't wait to see the creativity, something that shows the art of film making."

"This definitely is you know because it's a song writing award and for me it's a huge honor to be here amongst such wonderful talented songwriters and I even to perform tonight a Hall and Oates song, which is going to be fantastic. I'm performing a song that Daryl wrote for Paul Young called 'Every Time You Go Away.' It's a beautiful song and I'm just honored to be here. It's going to be cool."

What a great tour.

We are all back in LA now with a few weeks to relax and come down from the 3 months of buses, flights, fans, hotel rooms, interviews, sold out shows and adrenaline rushes... etc. Hollywood: Our rock and roll rehab.
Our last show of this leg was in Puerto Rico. It started off as a Dodge convention but somehow evolved to being one of the most intense arena rock shows of our lives. The convention had 22 thousand texts from fans trying to win free tickets; I think we wound up playing for most of them. Some girl was so excited she was pulling the cables out of my pedal board. I apologize to her for my bass tech trying to stomp on her fingers. The show must go on.

Another highlight was Montreal. Having lived there I recommended that management upgrade to the Metropolis after we sold out Club soda (a 900 seat club) in 3 days. The 3000 French Canadians went Bananas all night. Since most of us were sick, the guys got in a car to the hotel right after we finished the last song. I stayed to hang with some friends and the crowd refused to leave and chanted "Everything! Everything!" In thick accents for 20 minutes, stomping on the floor and throwing shit while the crew tore down the stage. We promise to play that song again. Promise! Tabernac!

I slept for like 14 hours in my own bed last night, being the last one home. I went to the folks' house immediately after the tour to surprise the mother for mom's day and hang with my high school buddies for our 10 year reunion. Can't believe it's been that long. We partied like it was 1998.

1)Donna- Who do you crush on? Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Laura. I don't know what she looks like, but she sounds hot!
2)Kerri- What would you do if some little punk spit on you from the chair lift while you were skiing down the slope? Well, I believe in the punk culture getting spit on is a sign of respect and affection. So here is what I would do. You don't want to be rude and do nothing, seeing as you might discourage and break the poor punk kids spirit. So I would wait until I was on the lift and he was skiing down the slope and I would return the saliva.
This way no one gets insulted; everyone wins and you can go share a cup of hot coco back at the lodge and listen to The Clash, Sex Pistols, and The Ramones.
3)Ash- If you had you're own reality show what would it be called?- "Wades World"
What is your favorite scent? My dog Beeker has a great scent. As far as calogne I would have to say it's a toss up between Brut and Royal Copenhagen.
Camping or Cruise? I think it would be pretty amazing to go camping on a cruise! Pitch a tent right out front by the pool. Make smores on my George Foreman grill, and wake up and play bingo all day with the repeat cruise customers.

Hello from Kansas City. Earlier today we played a four song unplugged set for Sams Club. Met some great people, got a discount card and a nice egg breakfast. Dale Earnhardt Jr was there and we got to take a picture with him. It turns out that he was a fan of our music, and we are definately big fans of his. Believe me anyone that has the guts to go that fast in a vehicle has my admiration. I'm afraid to get out of the slow lane on the freeway. We are hoping to make it out to a race one of these days. I hear it's an amazing experience to see it live.
We are heading out to Hawaii tomorrow morning for the Pro Bowl, should be a great time. I'm going to continue the Q@A when I get there and have a day off.

1)Ashlyn- What shows do you Tivo? Every Cavs game, Lost and House.
What's your favorite breakfast cereal? Well that depends, when I'm on the road we all pretty much partake in a nice bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats, but every once in a while when feeling a little frisky I have to go with a nice frothy bowl of Fruity Pebbles.
101 or 405? (freeways in LA) definately 101.
One thing you wish you could change about yourself? I wish I was six-foot-two.
2) Sylvia- Would you save me from drowning? Absolutely! Well I don't really swim, but if I was on a boat and saw you drowning I would definately throw you a life line.
3)Dr. T- whats the story behind the song Only One? I wrote this song when I was seventeen in my two bedroom apartment shared by my seven roomates. I think it was about two in the morning. I wrote the song fairly quickly and in the morning realized my friend had a song called Only One and it sounded similar to mine. When I realized that I had accidentally ripped him off; I hid the song from him for about a year. When he finally heard the song he didn't even think they sounded alike so I decided to keep and record it.
4)Michelle- Whats the best thing you ever got for free? Someone once gave me a box of Chocolates and a stun gun. We weren't friends for very long.
What's in your pocket right now? A receipt for something I don't remeber buying, an unchewed piece of gum, thirty two cents, and my leg.
Who is your favorite Brady Bunch girl? I don't know her name but the little blond girl that talks funny.
If you could have the worlds largest collection of something what would it be? I'd like to see how many Curb Your Enthusiasm DVDs I could fit in my garage.
What are you most afraid of? Anteaters and kangaroos, they just look way too unpredictable.
If you had to rearrange the letters of your first name to give yourself a new name what would it be? Sonja, or Jonsa.... no maybe Josan. I don't like this game it's making me dizzy.

I just want to say before I answer some questions that I will be doing four or five more of these Q@A'a in the next couple of weeks. So feel free to comment on the answers or if you think of any other questions just post them here. I'm sorry if I can't answer everything however I will get to as many as I can.
Becky asks- Do you guys randomly meet your fans if they find you before or after the show? Usually after the show people wait by the tour bus and we are more than happy to sign take pictures and hang out for as long as we can . Unfortunatley there will be some occasions where we have to leave right after the show due to early shows the following day, or if we are feeling under the weather. We love getting to meet and connect with our fans though so after the show is usually the best time.
Ruth asks- How and where do you find your inspiration for your songs?
Well, recently my inspiration has kind of come from alot of different sources. For instance it could be a clip from a movie between two characters, or watching how people in a restaurant interact with eachother. Or it could be as simple as a painting that I see somewhere that triggers an emotion. I've been finding recently that writing songs from other peoples points of view can be very interesting. At the end of the day though I always end up writing about whatever is happening in my life, good or bad. Writing music has always been a way for me to express myself and helps me digest whatever I am going through at the time. I don't know what I would have done through my teen years if I didn't have the outlet of writing music, it definately was a form of therapy and I think I would have definately gone crazy without that outlet.
Lisa asks- Who have you seen in concert that has really inspirerd you?
A long time ago I saw Elliott Smith in concert and it was one of the most inspiring nights of my life. We were on the same record label at the time and I'm pretty sure I could have met him, but I was too nervous. Besides it would have crushed me if I met him and he wasn't nice. I will always remember that night though it was magical.
The other show that impacted me was U2 on their Elevation Tour. It was one of the most powerful performances by a band that I have ever seen. The way that they played with such emotion was just breathtaking!
Caroline asks- What new music have you been listening to?
I've actually been listening to alot of older music recently. Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra. There is something about the vibe and musicianship on these records that I'm really in to right now. Plus I find something very soothing in the tone and texture of these great vocalist, it kind of changes the scenery and takes you places when you listen to them.
Alot of people were asking about more tour dates for this year, and although I don't have details right now I am pretty sure we will be adding extra dates.
Also many questions about the set list. I don't want to give away the show, but we will be playing alot of older stuff as well as newer stuff. We realize that alot of people are very attached to the songs on No Name Face so we will be playing songs from that record, but also alot of songs from the Who We Are record. We are so proud of this record and playing these songs live has been very exciting! We feel like there is an energy and electric quality to thes songs that really translate live. Some people wanted to know if we will play songs like Goodbye, Crash and Burn, Eighties, and The Edge, and while we are flattered that anyone even knows about thes songs, I don't think we will be playing them on this tour. You never know though we have a tendency to switch the set list up sometimes.

Today I wrote a blog about friends that come to visit you in LA, and where to take them so they have a good time. Myspace decided that it wasn't a very cool blog entry and decided to delete the whole thing. I'm starting over.

Today is a meh day.... I'm just sitting on my azz. Gotta do something productive. I think I'll write a song.

Oh yeah, I saw Cloverfield, really really close to the movie screen. They were passing out air sick bags to people before the show. I made it through the whole shaky camera thing with minimal dizziness. No Barf. People had to leave the theatre though.

It's pouring here, and freezing

But it's exactly like the weather I went through growing up, so it's nice to stay indoors with a movie.

I bought the Indiana Jones trio and I just finished watching. There is a new Indiana Jones coming out soon, which confuses me because in the Last Crusade, he drinks from the Holy Grail to get eternal youth... but Harrison Ford looks kind of old now! Hope it works out for him.

I'm watching Alfred Hitchcock as we speak, Lifeboat... great movie.

Rick is in Sedona, Jason is in Napa and Ben is in Glendora, gotta hold down the LA blog fort

So I just drove 7 hours to Sedona, Arizona to see some family. When i rolled up, I saw these shiny, armor esque horse statues off the side of the highway. What luck. I'm a friggin' rock jockey! I should've gotten out of the car, at this point my legs and ass felt like a concrete block from sitting so long, but this time I passed up a ride. So this is the home of the vortex, whatever that is. Now that I think about it, I do feel taller when I'm here, maybe even stronger. That must be what it means. I think i'll also have good luck too. Anyways, talk to you guys soon.

We're back home.Living in Hollywood is fun for many reasons. Mostly because of the weather and great location, but also for the entertainment I get from the many freaks I see walking down the street. I almost got my eye gouged by a cross dresser's mohawk today. Ahh, home.

We have some time off to recoup before we start our tour. Have you gotten your tickets yet? We are also playing for the halftime show at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii at the beginning of Feb! If you don't know, it's the NFL all star game. We should just skip First Time and let Rick do a face melting drum solo... That'll get some ratings.

We just got finished with a thirty minute interview with body by milk.com. The interview went by smoothly, Rick was entertaining as always, but halfway through the interview I started to feel a little guilty. Milk hasn't been a part of my diet for years. And to be honest I don't have any excuse..... I'm not allergic in any way. I guess it just slips my mind sometimes to go and get a nice big glass of milk. I use to know this kid who would drink a gallon of whole milk a day. I might be alone on this, but I think that might be a tad excessive. He always looked a bit pale to me, not exactly "chalk white", it was more of an "egg nog" color. I do enjoy a nice cup of egg nog during the holidays, but that is besides the point. The point is the kid's face was the color of egg nog from excessive milk drinking. I'm sure someone will agree with me when I say,everything in moderation. So I have decided to work milk back into my daily diet. I just haven't decided whether or not to drink two percent, or nonfat. To me if your gonna drink nonfat, you mine as well be drinking water; which I don't drink enough of either. Ok now I'm flustered I'm going to have to go and figure this out. I have the rest of the day off, and have started a couple of new songs. One on the piano and a couple on the guitar. No lyrics yet, just some melody ideas. It's always nice to work on fresh material when I'm off the road. Check in with ya later,

Our Little Road Trip | Lifehouse | Diary

Flew in last night from the east coast and I have to tell you I didn't pack properly for this trip. The warmest thing I brought was a hoody and my pinky toe is still slightly purple. Overall very fun trip. The BCS Championship game was a blast. I really understand the game of football a little better and am starting to get excited about the NFL playoffs. I really want the Packers to do well because I like Brett Favre. However I want the Patriots to do well because I like total domination. Maybe I'll do like I did in the college game; go for one team in the first half and the second team in the second half. Then of cousre if it's a blow out then I'll go for that team because I truly do enjoy total domination, like my Chicago Bulls teams from the nineties!
The Mike and Mike Roast acoustic show we played was also enjoyable. We basically played six songs and then got to sit back and watch grown men make fun of eachother for about three hours. Definately quality entertainment! Eddie Griffin was the best, he gave one of the best roastings that I have ever seen. I think he mad a couple of linebackers cry! ESPN was very hospitable to us, they put us up in the nicest rooms I have ever been in at the casino. One problem though. These hotel rooms had super fancy see through glass doors by the bathrooms. At five in the morning I got up to go to the restroom and in the pitch black room didn't see the super fancy see through glass door........... you know where I'm going with this. I ran right in to the side of the super fancy see through glass door and cut my forehead open. I finally found the light cleaned up the blood, forgot about going to the bathroom and crawled back in bed. Oh well, at least it kind of looks like I was in a fight. Being in a fight is way cooler than running in to a door. So that was my trip. Go check out our tour dates your not gonna wanna miss this tour coming up it's gonna be good times.

Atlantic City/Tour Dates

The football game in New Orleans was great! There is so much spirit and intensity in College football games, and this one didn't dissappoint. LSU won, I was going for the Buckeyes, but we had a great hang anyway.
We have hanging in Atlantic City now. We have 3 days off here! On Saturday we are playing a private show for an ESPN roast here and they put us up in some of the nicest hotel rooms I have ever seen.. Thanks ESPN, Thank-ye. I played in a Poker tournament yesterday and it was just a reminder of my love/hate relationship with the game. I went all in with pocket kings (the second best starting hand) and lost to 8-2 offsuit (the second worst) to wind up in 10th place. It was still fun though, and I met some locals that came and partied with me and the boys. Ahh, life on the road.
We were given some tour dates today, it's going to be one of our best. There are more on the way, but the highlight for me is going to be playing at the LA Wiltern in March. It is a great venue and I've seen a ton of my favorite bands play there. You gotta check this tour out, it's gonna be the shiz.

Hello from New Orleans and happy new year! I hope everyones holidays were enjoyable. We had a great time in New York for new years and previous to that a nice two week break at home to rest up and get ready for the new tour. It was very strange I think there was a Pottery Barn conspiracy going on because I got five different Pottery Barn gift cards for Christmas. It's not that I don't like Pottery Barn it's just that I've never stepped foot inside of one. When I get home from this little trip I guess I'm going to have to get acquanted with the various selections that Pottery Barn has to offer.
So anyways, back to New Orleans. We are playing "fan fest", which is basically the big party on the streets before the big College National Championship football game between LSU and Ohio State. Now I'm still debating who I want to win, but I'm leaning towards LSU since they are the home town heroes. On the other hand, I like the uniforms of the Ohio State team, so I might have to be neutral and cheer for both teams. This is the first football ball game I've ever been to believe it or not, and I'm pretty excited about it to say the least. I was the scrawny kid in high school who would try to stay away from the football team at all possible. But now that I'm an adult they're a little less intimidating than they use to be. I figure if I am going to be a full blown fan I need the necesarry equipment. Football jersey, sports hat, gloves, protection cup, and one of those helmet beer dispensers you see those big guys wearing. I got to go shopping down bourban street now, I will check in after the game is over.

Hello from Texas.

We are in Austin at the moment, a fine city indeed! The fellows and I had a great day off yesterday, feasted on some Mexican food, and got caught up on some needed sleep. I have to tell you an amazing little story though. Rick being the amazingly generous person that he is, reaches for his credit card to treat us and realizes he left his wallet in the cab. Now I don't have to tell you that an event like this can put an instant damper on a day off. Rick proceeds to cancel all his credit cards for the rest of the evening and needless to say we all feel for him.

So, fast forward to the next day; Rick and I are walking to a "Ruth's Chris" steak house ( I feel like taking him to a steak dinner is the best way to take his mind off his loss and get him ready for the show) and we pass a cab driver that looks exactly like the one that drove Ricky the previous day. Turns out that it was, and he being the honorable man that he was turned in his wallet to the hotel. Needless to say that was a one in a million chance that we would run in to that taxi. The steak dinner tasted better than anything he had ever tasted in his life, for more than one reason. For one he had discovered his missing wallet and two they cook that steak in a cube of butter.

Now that brings me to my next point. I ordered "escargot". I know cooked snails doesn't sound that delicious but I assure you it was. It came prepared in a steaming plate of boiling butter and garlic. It was a little chewy and tasted a bit like chicken, but I have a new theory about food. You can pretty much cook anything in a cube of butter and garlic and it is gonna taste amazing. Next time I am stranded in the woods and have to hunt to stay alive, I hope I have a cube of butter and some garlic, because I am pretty sure whatever i eat is going to taste good.

What an evenful day, Rick gets his wallet back, we have a great meal, and we are about to play a show in the great city of Austin. The only bummer is he already cancelled his credit cards, but that is a small price to pay. He doesn't have to spend a painful day at the DMV getting a new drivers liscence, which everyone knows can seem like spending a day in the inner circle of hell! We will be in Mexico in a few days playing a show, I will check in and let you know how the December tour is going and how the guacamole tastes,

December is here, and as you saw from the Macy's Parade, I'm overly excited about the holidays. I love compiling a list of gadgets I may want or need. I think this year instead of asking for gifts such as I phones and video games, I'm gonna ask for food. My list this year is tacos. I've secretly wanted these for the last few years. Instead I've gotten oversized clothing and electric flyswatters. No joke. Last year I even got a sonic mole chaser. It exists, google it. I'm not kidding! Happy Holidays! See you soon!

O Canada | Lifehouse | Diary

We have been in Canada for the last few days now and I have to tell you, I really like it here.The show in Edmonton the other night was great. We haven't toured Canada for years now so it was nice to play in a new environment and in front of a different crowd. The venue was inside one of the biggest malls in the world. There was a theme park inside. There was a shooting range ( which I find slighlty disturbing). There was even an indoor water park. The guys and I were watching the wave pool from a window, and I saw something very strange. There was a small child using the wave pool for her own personal restroom. This confirms my theory on water parks and why I choose not to partake. Everyone knows this kind of behaviour occurs at these places; however everyone just turns their head the other way and continue to go down the long, windy slide. Watching the mother supervise the chid was also slightly unnerving. Even though what we witnessed was very traumatic, I'm glad to have proof to back my opinion of water parks. I guess this means next time we play "Raging Waters", I won't be found in the wave pool before sound check.
On to other topics. The Thanksgiving parade last week was a great time. We got to experiment with various types of waving. There is the Queen of England half wave. The George Bush three quarters and half grin wave. There is the movie star point and pretend they are your best friend wave. And then there is my favorite; the lazy guy head nod and barely lift your arm wave. After about two hours on our float, there was alot of the lazy guy wave going on. After the parade was over we headed back to our hotel to enjoy the rest of our day. We wished we could have been with our families for Thanksgiving; however we were determined to make the best of it. I have to admit this is the first Thanksgiving that I did not eat turkey. All I could find was a grilled duck dish at a Thai place. I know that duck is not a great substitute for a turkey dinner, but in these situations one has to improvise.
This three month tour wraps up tonight in Vancouver and then we fly home tomorrow. It has been a great run. I can't wait to get some down time for the holidays and then hit the road again next year. I'll check in periodically from home,

Everytime I write a new blog I can't help but think that Jason is tucked away somewhere in his hotel room writing one at the same time. If my prediction is true, you will be hearing from two of us, which will be interesting because we will probably ramble on about the same things. Might be fun, anyways..
Thanks to everyone who has joined us on this tour! We had our last show of this leg the other day in Winston/Salem; we are now in New York. We flew in late yesterday because La Gaurdia Airport always has some sort of delay. We did a shoot at VH1 and then went to rehersal for Macy's Thanksgiving day parade.
Today I had a day off so I walked around the city with a friend for awhile. The first time I ever went to NY, I was 20, and if you have never been, it's exactly the way you see it in the movies. The people are always in a rush, there's street vendors everywhere, the cabs, subways, huge buildings the manholes with the steam... I went to central park and watched the ice skaters, we saw the Plaza Hotel. I remembered it from watching Home Alone 2 when I was like 12. We are here like 5 times a year and it is cool every trip.

We have to get up way early tomorrow for the parade.. tune in and watch the 100 seconds of madness... enjoy your thanksgiving dinner. Much Love

Our four show run in Florida was amazing! We enjoyed the people and the weather. Thanks to everyone who came out.
The night before last we played a show right on the beach in Sebastian to a sold out crowd. There were a few boats in the water watching us. After we finished, we sat on the beach with a few new friends and had some fruity umbrella drinks in the warm breeze. Lovely. The resort we were staying at, Cpt. Hiram's had put us up with great rooms overlooking the water.
When I returned to my room after the Mojitos and whatnot, some clown had turned everything in my room upside down, my bed, lamps, desk, TV, even my toothpaste and shampoo were flipped. I tell you it was a pain in the ass turning an upside down safe, and I am not one to be passive to a prank. I had found out through an anonymous tip that it was "The Bloke" (our guitar player Ben) our sound guy Mitch. After convincing the hotel Clerk that I was Ben Carey, I was able to get into the Bloke's room to wake him up with a nice refreshing bucket of water and sumo drop.
With him down, I decided to get more creative with Mitch. I managed to get into his dark room with a garbage bag full of ice to refresh him. After cooling him off, I got a call from the Bloke laughing and apologizing for what he and our Monitor guy Craig did to my room.
After saying sorry 110 times, I helped Mitch clean up the ice and tuck him into the other queen in his room at 5 am, I realized Craig got the last laugh twice. He's done.
Anyways, we had a day off yesterday and Jay and Rick went out on a boat. The rest of us got a rest in. I'll miss the warm weather, we're heading north. See you out there

For all of you people that came to the Jacksonville show, we are sorry we had to cancel. Jason was ill but is feeling alot better today. The rest of us were able to check out alot of other bands at the Tallyrand festival while Jay was resting. I was really blown away by Against me! and Spoon. It is always inspiring to see/hear good music. After the shows Ricky and I went wine tasting with the crew. We talked about opening up a wine tasting cafe in LA. Maybe one day.

We are playing three more shows in Florida, so come out to one of them if you can! We are in Talahasee right now, we played here on Halloween two years ago, it was rocking then...and the rock will be brought-en tonight as well.

We have some exciting gigs coming up, including two shows in my homeland of Canada. I look forward to the thanksgiving day parade; an exciting new years gig is being talked about as well. See you out there!

Hello from Little Rock. We just got off stage a little while ago. The show was good the crowd was great, it was overall a very pleasant stay here. I was a little concerned for the fans up front because of a monitor that got caught on fire. I started smelling this strange smell well into the third song and before I knew it Craig our monitor guy comes running onstage withe a fire extinguisher. What a pro! The show went on from there. It was a bit Spinal Tap, but you know what; I can live with that. It's always those strange things that make you remember certain gigs. This one will go down in the books. I even have a shirt that smells like sweat and burned rubber to remind myself of when we rocked Little Rock so hard we managed to light a monitor on fire. THATS RIGHT WE ARE PRETTY HARD CORE!......... AT LEAST FOR TONIGHT.

Lifehouse's Jason Wade to Debut Original Song for Allstate Teen Safe Driving Program | Lifehouse | News

Allstate is pairing the song-writing and performing talents of one of music’s most popular vocalists with its teen safe driving program to amplify the important message this fall. Through a partnership with Lifehouse lead vocalist Jason Wade, Allstate is debuting a new 60-second commercial featuring a new single written and composed especially for Allstate by Wade, called “From Where You Are”, during NBC’s “Friday Night Lights” episode on October 26. The spot is an extended version of Allstate’s “Tail Lights” commercial, which has been airing since June and will mark the first-ever broadcast of the song.

The track was written and performed by Wade exclusively to support Allstate’s teen safe driving program which aims to educate parents and teens about the risks associated with teen driving. Wade was inspired to compose “From Where You Are” when approached by Allstate about creating a song that would capture the essence of the campaign and resonate among parents and teens.

“When Allstate approached me about this wonderful opportunity I knew immediately it was something I wanted to be involved with,” said Wade. “In fact, I started writing this song before we even talked formally about what my role would be because I feel so strongly about this cause. Anything I can do to reach out to teens and parents and get them to start talking about safe driving means a lot to me.”

“Jason’s song adds a dimension to our teen safe driving message not possible with words or images alone,” said Lisa Cochrane, Allstate’s vice president of integrated marketing communications. “A priority of our teen safe driving campaign is to be relevant to both teens and parents. You cannot listen to this and not be moved.”

After it airs on October 26, the spot will be available for viewing on www.allstate.com/teen. The Web site will also feature exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from Wade’s recording of the song and a special one-on-one interview with him about his involvement with teen safe driving. “From Where You Are” will be available as a single for download on iTunes beginning November 6. Lifehouse, which released its fourth album Who We Are in June, has sold over five million albums in their young career.

“Tail Lights”, created by Leo Burnett, features various teens in simulated driving situations, with “From Where You Are” playing throughout the spot. A voice over from Allstate spokesperson Dennis Haysbert reminds viewers that “every year, nearly 6,000 teenagers go out for a drive…and never come back,” and encourages parents to have the ever-important safe driving talk with their teens.

The spot encourages viewers to go to www.allstate.com/teen to access Allstate’s new interactive Parent-Teen Driving Contract. In addition to this commercial, the October 26 “Friday Night Lights” episode will feature a storyline dramatizing teen driving situations. Bryce here, we are hanging out at the halfway-house between our long drive between New Mexico and Misourri; Oklahoma City. Our bus driver needs to get some sleep. Some of the boys have gone out to a mall, some have gone to the movies. I have decided to sit in my room to watch bands on Youtube and blog. I am exciting!

So I have an interesting bit of news for all you Lifehouse fans besides news about us. In June, we played a show at the greek theatre in LA. I wound up introducing some former bandmates to one of my best friends Geoff Byrd and lo and behold, they formed a band. A few weeks later the four-piece auditioned for the new American Idol produced show "The Next Great American Band". Through hard work, rehearsing and sweating bullets waiting results, they made it in the top 12 out of nearly 8000 submissions.
They are called "The Likes Of You". Tune into Fox at 8 PM EST on Friday and check them out. All your votes count so please vote for them if you can... They might even play one of our songs if they make it far.

I'm in Philly for a couple of days for a friends wedding. Him and his bride to be wanted me to sing You and Me for their first dance. I'll be here until Saturday, and then I fly to Vegas to meet the boys for a show. ( maybe I can win some of the money back that I lost from Josh ,a.k.a the dealer from hell in NY) It's nice to take a couple of days off and just hang out for a bit. The last show we played was New York at a place called the China Club. It was a great night, and the following day I went to see the Broadway show Wicked . It was entertaining, but not nearly as entertaining as the guy in front of me tripping on acid. I got to go now and try on my "wedding singer" costume. See ya in a few days. Oh I just realized I'm right across the street from the hotel that I wrote "Midnight in Philly", This hotel is much nicer! Sorry, I have A.D.D. Have a good one,

We had a great night tonight! We just played the longest acoustic set we've ever played and had a great time doing it. There were about two hundred people in the hard rock cafe right by the falls, and I can definately say that we " soft rocked" the hard rock" tonight . Bryce already filled you in on Vegas, we all made it out alive, and had a great time. So there was a casino literally right next door to our hotel, and since I didn't do to much gambling in Vegas this time and had most of the day off, I wandered over there with Bryce. It seemed completely harmless at the time........... Until we sat down with the dealer from hell. I've never seen a dealer get black jack seven consecutive times....... Until today. We just started laughing it was so ridiculous. We barely made it out of there with the clothes on our backs. After our grave defeat we went and shared a moment by the waterfall. There we were, watching the great Niagara Falls, and I have a six foot- four ,blond Canadian sobbing on my shoulder like a big "Baby Huey". That image alone like the commercial says is "priceless". So we played about twelve songs acoustic. Some we've played before and some we were just winging it, but overall it was a pretty amazing vibe. It makes me seriously think about making an acoustic album someday. I've been feeling a little under the weather the last few days, I think it has something to do with the seasons changing. But I'm happy to say that I am at the end of this little cold I've been battling, and feel much better today. Thanks to the local pharmacy I have stocked up on all road gear. Air born, Vitamin C, multi vitamins, cough drops, Zicam, and some Asian vitamin made out of pig ears that is suppost to make your skin shine. I'm all set and ready for the second half of this tour!

You may be feeling that after a week of no blogs, Lifehouse has fallen off the face of the earth. This is not the case. After playing 10 shows in 11 days, we had a well deserved break with family and friends in Americas' playground. Technically we were there on business. The lovely people at Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep liked our song (first time) being thier theme so much that they asked us to play for them privately at thier annual convention at the Venitian. We played two shows in the span of three days with Jay Leno doing a standup comedy act on the same bill; 5 thousand people roughly each night. It didn't seem like work at all. Especially with the sweet rooms they hooked us up with. I had a remote control for the blinds. I always wanted one of those. I played in a couple poker tournaments while there. The Wynn had a 60 player tourney with the top prize paying out at 4 grand. I have won a couple before so I had high hopes, but I finished 6th. I couldn't complain, I can always coax Jay and Rick into a game to make rent. One moment was when some us and the crew went to the Hard Rock Casino and saw Gwar, yes Gwar. It was Metal Madness. If you haven't heard of them, they are a band who are on earth solely for "the destruction of the human race." They dress up in alien monster costumes and play metal while theatrically chopping up random political figures on stage and letting them bleed on the crowd. It was hilarious. All in all, some of us won, some lost. Some went and saw Cirque du Soliel and didn't gamble. We ate like kings and partied. We all had fun and nobody lost thier house, got beat up by a bookie or OD'd. We are in Niagra Falls now, safe, and ready to tour. see u out there

In the hotel room now getting ready to roll. We had a great show tonight at a club called Bogarts. We've played this place many times over the years and it is always one of my favorite spots. The crowds are always really good in Ohio!

The day off yesterday was nice and relaxing, a couple of the guys went golfing ( I passed because well....... I'm terible, I'm the guy that hits the ball and it actually manages to go backwards) I've been golfing many times now and still haven't managed to make a par. I know it's sad. Later that evening we all got together and ate at a great sushi place were I ventured away from the standard California roll and actually tried raw fish. I don't know if that was the wisest move on my part, because my stomach made some of the strangest noises that night that I have ever heard!

At least I tried something new. I'm kind of a one trick pony when it comes to food. Any how, I got to run, I think the bus just pulled up, Goodnight,

Hello little ones.

We are in Allentown Penn. right now and I must say, I am excited for the fall. I went golfing today and I the leaves were juuust starting to turn brown. It makes me think of thanksgiving in Canada which is in October; I have converted to the American one since then. Now I look forward to Halloween. Last year I was the guy from A Clockwork Orange, with the mask and white suit and all. The suit consists of a jock strap which ecouraged my friends to keep kicking me in the junk. This year I'm going to be something safer. We will be partying in Wisconsin on Hallow's eve. Any suggestions?

I know, I know. I've been away for a while; however I just want to say it was not because of lack of love. We have been super busy out here on the road. We are in the midst of a five show run, and we just finished the fourth. This tour is amazing so far. It has been great playing every night for such amazing people! Bryce is in the back lounge right now playing "Halo 3". I tried playing him before, but I end up being the guy everyone gangs up on to get easy points. It's no fun being that guy! For me the highlights of the new set are "simon" and "broken". I know some of you are bummed that we are not coming to your area, but I promise that we will be on the road for a long time. After a sauna soaked show at Northern Lights in Clifton Park New York.....We sit in the back lounge of the bus talking about how electric the club show can be, and how impressive it was to ring out my shirt. The temp ran a bit on the hot side. I honestly didn't think I had the juice to come back for the encore. We all actually saw stars tonight for real. Yesterday we spent the day venturing throughout a casino....Bryce being the gambler he is, left up for sure. He invested a full day to the sport of Poker, while I ingested most of the sugar features this establishment had to offer.....Coconut cream pie....Ice cream.......eclairs.......Gotta love it my friends. Off to the coffin for some good ol' beauty sleep.

1) Thanks to those who have supported The House by buying Who We Are and spreading the word on it as we feel it is one of our finest Discs.

Simon! Rehearsal today in Nashville was amazing! We are so inspired right now and we cannot wait to start playing some shows. We are having a great time here. Nashville is an amazing place, and tomorrow I get to spend a little time with my dear friend Scotty (my friend who helped produce broken).

I was reading a comment from a girl named Stephanie, and her story really moved me. She said that she recently had a kidney transplant, and although she wasn't feeling 100 percent; she came out to our show anyway. She knew the story behind Broken and really related to it. She said that when we played it she was moved to tears. Stephanie, I just want to say that I think you are very brave, and you sound like an amazing woman! I will tell your story to Scott and I know that it will inspire him and give him hope. I can't even begin to imagine how hard things must have been these last few years, but I'm glad things are looking up.

We have decided to put Simon back in the setlist for this tour. We were messing around with the song, and all of a sudden got very inspired; so we decided after about four years of not playing it, to put it back in the set . I really feel like this tour is going to be something special and I can't wait for it to start!

Ok, so we are in Nashville right now. The flight was pretty smooth. The pilot was a total pro. Any pilot who is willing to fly that "huge beast" and give the score to the football game at the same time is a "seasoned vet". I felt like I was definately gonna live to see this tour, and let me tell you something......that was a pretty good feeling! I can't wait to start this tour. Getting ready for bed. We're rehearsing tomorrow for the LA county fair. I'm really looking forward to the show this weekend. Whenever you have about ten days off you're always fired up for the first show back. You get the butterflies and that excitement to play in front of the crowd. I can't believe how fast this summer has flown by, it seems like we just started the Goo Goo Dolls tour yesterday. We can't wait though to get this headlining tour started. We have alot of fond memories of playing many of these venues. The Norva in peticular is one of our favorites to play. Anyways I was just curious, what you think our next single should be? The Rick Dees acoustic performance went really well this morning. It was funny though all of our gear is still on the road, so I had to break out an old vintage acoustic that I usually don't use for these performances. I was running a little behind this morning and couldn't find the case, so I just threw it in the car and went " guitar commando style" without the case. When we picked up Rick, he didn't have a case for his percussion either so his shaker and tam had to ride "commando" as well. We must have looked like a bunch of street performers getting out of the car with our naked instruments. Anyways, we had a good laugh about it!
What did you think about the VMA's the other night? I have my own opinions about certain performances as I'm sure you do, but I do have one comment to make. Chris Browns dance routine was unbelievable! Seriously that kid can dance. I was really blown away by that, and really thought he was the highlight of the night. Your thoughts?

So tomorrow me and the boys are going to do a little radio promotion with Rick Dees. I always enjoy stopping by to visit with Rick, it is always very pleasant. We are going to play one song acoustically, so I assume that it will be First Time. Enough about me and my world. I just want to say congratulations to the USA basketball team! I didn't watch every single game because I was on the road, but thanks to tevo, I did see alot of them. What a great assembly of talent. My boy LeBron definately did not let me or my country down. You see I remeber the original Dream Team with Michael, Magic, and Larry in 1992 and in my humble opinion USA basketball has not been the same since. Until now... This team is insane, and I am a huge fan. I remember watching a few years back in Easton (the place that we recorded our third record) and being so disappointed when they took the bronze. We can't take the bronze, we invented the sport. The main problem with that team was there outside shooting. Also the other teams showed more dynamics in their passing and "team play". We had way too much one on one going on! I just realized something, if music doesn't work out for me, I could be an assistant coach........ That or a ball boy. There is no shame in collecting the ball for such amazing talent . I'm gonna go get fitted for my uniform. See ya tomorrow,

I'm going on day six of being home, and don't get me wrong the down time is great, but after about seven days I start to miss playing. Luckily we have the LA county fair to look forward to next week. This is the second time playing that fair and it is always a blast. I think that it's the only fair where you can actually get a low-carb cotton candy ( everyone here is so calorie conscious). I don't eat alot of cotton candy, but if I'm going to the fair I'm goin' big and getting a real genuine cotton candy, and a big fat turkey leg! Anyways it's always nice playing in your home town. All your old friends get to come out to the show, you get to see your family, and occasionally you see someone that you met once, but they claim you were best friends in second grade. That's when you do the old "half hug, great to see ya, would you like the rest of my turkey leg?"
On another note, it was great hangin' out with Ricky yesterday. I'm sure somebody out there is curious about me and Ricky's UFC Championship Showdown last night. Let's just say it was a good match. It went the full three rounds, and I really held my own. His experience unfortunately overpowered my own. I may be good on my feet (I have excellent foot work), but his grappling techniques are some of the best I've ever seen. I'm ashamed to say that I tapped out due to a fierce arm-bar in the third round. I am proud to announce though that we are still friends, and after the bout he made me one of the best hamburgers I have ever had in my life! I asked him his secret for such amazing burgers and like a pro he turned to me and said " if I tell you I'll have to kill you". Maybe one day his secret recipe will be sweeping across the nation in a chain of "Ricks Lil' Boy Burgers". I'll check in with ya tomorrow,

Just hangin' out today enjoying the beautiful weather, nothing too exciting happening. Spent some good quality time in my studio, jamming on my wurlitzer. The wild life around here has been pretty crazy though. This morning there was a coyote that snuck into our yard, I thought this might be Beekers big chance to flex her muscles and show her fangs a bit. No such luck. She ran to her little hiding spot in the closet as usual. I feed Beeker well, she must have been three times larger than the scrawny little coyote. I feel that this might be a huge blow to her confidence. She is looking at me right now as we speak. Giving me those sad "I let you down puppy dog eyes". Ya know what, it's ok. Being a good watch dog is highly overrated. She has many more skills that overshadow not being such a great watch dog. For instance, Beeker slept for nearly fourteen hours once. What a perfect "nap buddy". If you need a good power nap, she is there; out like a light. Oh no, I just realized something. Oversleeping is a sign of depression! She's depressed and is in need of some serious attention. I know exactly what she needs. I am going to take her to the park,throw the ball and have some good bonding time.
Rick is coming over later and and we are going to do a little UFC fighting. I had some martial arts training when I was younger, but my skills are a little rusty. Rick may be a little guy, but don't let that fool you, he has very sharp elbows. I got to go work out and get ready for the showdown. Until tomorrow, when I will entertain (or bore you) again with my "random pandemonium" have a great night, and sleep well.

I've been home now for a few days, and it seems like the routine is always the same. Unpack and do laundry, get the coffee pot ready for the morning, and rig the fan to sound similar to the bus. That is the only way I can sleep these days. Then after staying home for a few days and doing nothing except.....well actually nothing. I've realized that I have devoured the last Lean Pocket, and it is time to go to the grocery store. Now it's a funny thing the grocery store, you either love it or hate it. I personally don't mind it. Depending on whether I have already eaten or not. The worst idea in the world is to shopping when you are starving! You might end up buying the whole store. Which I have been guilty for in the past. Things that you could never have imagined of eating before all of a sudden look irresistable. You end up buying way more mac and cheese than you need, half of the frozen food section is in your cart, and you notice theres a rack of lamb riding in there as well. I hate lamb! Never touch the stuff. It does not taste good to me. But for some reason the survival instinct kicks in, and I guess my body is telling me "eat the lamb or starve". I apologize to any vegetarians out there I use to be one of you for about nine months. It should make you happy to know that I put the lamb back.
Then there is the opposite. Shopping when you have just eaten a nice big lunch. For me this is where I have a problem. I get very undecisive. Choosing which avocado to purchase can take hours. Do you get cereal? Which cereal do you get? Ok Cheerios. Wait a minute there's ten different kinds of Cheerios. Moving on to bread. Did you know that there are thirteen different kinds of english muffins? Orange Juice, same thing fifteen different brands. Now finally something easy..... condiments always an easy choice I don't really care what type of ketchup it is , it's ketchup it all taste the same. Another tricky isle, chips. What kind of Sun Chips are we gonna purchase today. It may seem like an obvious choice but let me assure you, it's not. Buying harvest chedder is the easy way out. The debate is whether or not to get "original" or "garden salsa".
Ok, so I was in there for a good hour and realize...... I'm not even hungry! So I end up with an avacodo, a lean pocket and a bag of garden salsa sun chips. I need to get back out on the road and play some shows. I obviously don't have that much to do right now. One week until the circus starts back up again. Can't wait! See ya tomorrow,

The news

Ya know it's really sad when you are just trying to catch up on current events, and you have to switch to the third news channel just to find out what's happning in the world. On one news station they are talking about Lindsay Lohan, the other about Paris Hilton. I mean with all of the things going on in the world they should be discussing much bigger issues, like................. Britney Spears! Now she has kids, that is a much bigger story. Only kidding, it is kind of sad though. So I switch to the other stations. National Geographic is always an entertaining choice. Except for today when the whole hour is dedicated to elephant breeding. I absolutely love animals, but I really don't need to see a two thousand pound mating ritual. A&E is talking about a serial kller who is still on the loose maybe somewhere in my area. Alright I'm turning it off right now, this is just not my day for quality television. That was one advantage to growing up in a trailer without tv, there could be a killer roaming your city and you would never have to know about it. Your only worries were draining the septic tank, which has it's own disadvantages.

Answering Some Questions | Lifehouse | Diary

First of all I just want to say it really makes me happy that we share the same love for Silverchair, hopefully we can do a tour together someday! I've read through all the questions and hand picked some of them to answer. Sorry, I couldn't get to all of them.

1)"What books have you been reading lately"?

The last book that I read was about Elvis called "Last Train To Memphis". I was drawn to this book because I think Elvis had one of the best voices of all time, and it intrigued me the way the music scene seemed to be back then. All the artist seemed to be a very tight nit community who supported eachother and also covered eachothers songs. I love that!

2) "Is "The Joke" about suicide"?

Yes, I wrote "The Joke" about a boy in England who was bullied pretty much every day of his young life. The article went on to say that he hung himself in his bedroom with the scarf of his favorite soccer team. This story broke my heart, and I felt like I needed to write this song as a warning to those who bully other chidren. A song off of our first record called"Simon" shares a similar theme. I am really sensitive to this subject cause I can definately relate to the feelings of isolation and loneliness from my younger years.

3) "Are you guys gonna record "Crash and Burn" and "The Edge"?

We are definately gonna record a version of "Crash and Burn" in the future, as for "The Edge", it blows me away how many people are familiar with this song. We recorded this demo when I was sixteen; never released it, and never played it live. However if there really are that many people who want us to do an updated version, we might seriously consider it.

4)" When are you guys coming to France"?

I took my first trip to Paris last year and had an amazing time. It would be a dream come true to play a show in France, we've never played there before. So I am hoping we can go and play a show there next year some time.

5) "How is Ricks eye doing"?

Thanks for asking. Rick went to an eye doctor last week and he said it was a close call, but he's gonna be alright. It has been healing up nicely, but he did give us a little scare there.

6) I noticed that two people had very sick Grandfathers and wanted us to send out our thoughts and prayers. I definately will send my thoughts and prayers your way. I know what it is like to have a very sick Grandparent that you are close to, and it is extremely difficult and painful.

7)"The last lyrics of your last record were "who we are" was that intentional or just a coincidence"?

This was completely coincidental, although I have to say I think that it is really interesting. That would have been very clever of us but was just an accident.

8)"If you had to sing three Lifehouse songs for the rest of your life, what would they be"?

Right now they would be "Broken", "Hangin by a moment" (because this song changed our lives forever) and "Spin" ( I never get tired of playing this song live).

9) " I noticed you like Silverchair, do you like Sigur Ros"?

I absolutely love Sigur Ros. I first heard them when I was watching the movie " Vanilla Sky", and have been hooked ever since.

10) Now for the really, really deep question...... "What was your favorite cartoon growing up"?

Now that is a very compicated question. I spent alot of my younger childhood in a small village outside of Hong Kong called "Fan Ling". We had a small television; however most of the American cartoons were in Chinese. So I naturally gravitated towards "Tom and Jerry" because they didn't really talk. Two of my other favorites to watch on mute were "Ducktales, and "Thundercats". When we moved back to the States I can vividly remember gettin to see these cartoons in English for the first time. Needless to say that was an amazing Saturday! Thanks for the questions, I will fill you in in on any strange random events in the following few days,

I was just reading some comments, and I noticed someone asked me who
I've been listening to lately. The other day some one gave us a Mutemath DVD. We started watching it, after a show one night, and the guys and I were completely blown away. It's probably one of the best live videos we have ever seen. The songs were great the players were fantastic, and the performance was just mind blowing.
Another new record that I bought and love is the new Silverchair record. The way that this band has evolved is very impressive. They started when they were very young and I think have really come into their own. The vocals are breathtaking, and the songwriting is very very strong. I'm also obsessed with Billie Holiday right now. I can't get enough of it. There is something in the texture of her voice that is so hypnotic. It puts me in a completely different world, and is very soothing. Anyways, that is what I've been listening to. Hey, I am just gonna be hangin' out for the next few days so if you wanna ask me any more questions just post 'em here and I'll answer some of them. Have a good night and I'll see ya tomorrow,

We just arrived in LA a few hours ago. It's gonna be nice having a few days to relax and unwind after the summer tour. We survived another very bumpy flight, and were very relieved when we touched down. I'm watching that show Heroes for the first time, it's not bad. Rick is probably making tacos, and Bryce is probably....sleeping. It was one hundred and eight degrees in the valley today, so I might go to the beach tomorrow and do some body surfing (actually my version of body surfing is standing in front of the wave and then getting knocked over). We should be announcing some tour dates shortly. We are looking forward to the headlining shows in mid September! Oh I think I saw Little Richard in the airport today (at least it looked like him). Last show with the goos | Lifehouse | Diary

We've been playing shows for about eight years now, and this one tonight was probably one of the coolest ever! At the end of every tour the last show is the most interesting because the headliner usually plays a joke on the openers. This one took the cake. The Goos went out and bought chicken and ape outfits, came on stage during "first time", and danced for the whole song. Robby was behind Rick in the ape outfit licking his ear. One of the chickens picked me up during a chorus, and during the breakdown an ape came up and started humping my leg! I will never forget this tour, all of the guys have been really cool to us, so thank you to the band and every one on their crew. Also thank you to all of their fans, you are all amazing people, and were so receptive to our music. Tomorrow we fly home for a few days before we start our own tour. In the bus right now. We had a great show in Austin. It was nice to have open seating tonight! There's nothing like rocking out to a crowd that is sitting in their seats looking like they are expecting an Opera. No really, the energy was really good tonight from the crowd...... I took a small break to sneak into the crowd to see "Iris" I love that song. I'm back now and I want to sincerely thank everyone from the Goo Goo Dolls for the great summer. This has been one of my favorite tours. One more show and then we go home for a few days. Houston is tomorrow and the crowds in Texas have been amazing. Oh, were about to take off and I have to be honest , this is the nicest "Red Roof Inn" I have ever had the pleasure of showering in. No random unknown hairs floating about, no cheap cologne scent, and no unknown objects lodged in the toilet.

Dallas!

I have to say I had one of my best shows on the tour in Dallas. I don't know what it is. I just really felt every song in the set. The crowd was really good, but it was more than that; it was just a special night. I even enjoyed playing "Hangin by a moment", which I have played a million times. By the time we got to "Broken" I had chills up and down both of my arms. I love it when I feel completely connected to the crowd, and I definitely did today! The bus is about to take off to the next show and I just want to thank all of the fans in Dallas for an amazing night. Hopefully we will be back soon.

Dallas Flight | Lifehouse | Diary

Flight to Dallas

So as it turns out the flight to Dallas was very smooth. In fact I slept the whole time! I usually never sleep on planes, but for some reason this pilot lulled me to sleep. He will go down as a legend in my book. I woke up right as we were landing, and it was so smooth. I tried to get his autograph but he was busy. I am here in Dallas at my hotel now. It is raining so hard outside so I think I will order room service and watch some tv. For some reason this hotel charges ten bucks for access to the internet which I gladly handed over to them, because I am very commited to my "blog binge" right now. I still consider myself a "newbie" to the whole internet world, but I have to tell you; I have been playing alot of text twist lately and my typing skills are getting much better! I have to wake up pretty early to do an early morning tv show, but I'm not worried. There is a starbucks connected to this hotel. My drink of choice used to be a sugar free vanilla breve latte, but that takes way too much energy to order so I think I will go "truck driver" style tomorrow, and get a jumbo black coffee. I have to share one more tid bit of random info. I'm on the seventeenth floor at this hotel. That might not seem like a huge deal, but it is to me. I am slightly afraid of heights, and the elevator made a weird noise and stalled on the fifteenth floor. I had a mild panic attack, and right before I hit the emergency button.... It started going up again. The AC works great in this room and I don't think I will risk another trip tonight. See ya tomorrow,

Columbus We are waiting for the bus driver to get here so we can go back to the hotel. I'm flying tomorrow morning to go to Dallas, and having a bit of anxiety about it. I had this really weird dream the other night that I was on a plane that was really bumpy; so I go and talk to the pilot. They open the door and it was Bono from U2. I all of a sudden forget that it was a rough flight and proceed to engage in conversation with Bono. Then next thing I know he turns into Kevin Costner. Now this dream either has some profound meaning to it, or it means I heard "With or without you" on the radio, and saw "Bull Durham" on TV. Or it means that I had an extremely potent hot dog at the game last night. In all reality it means absolutely nothing and I should step on that plane with full confidence that it is not Kevin Costner flying the plane, but a trained pro that will get me to Dallas safe and sound. We have three shows left with the Goo Goo Dolls and I am kind of bummed the tour is coming to an end. It has been an amazing summer, and I'm looking forward to our headlining tour in September. -Jay went in the front and I have a second to say hellllooooo again. Tonight was a rock show. Rick is with me, he is healing since a broken drumstick flew up and hit him in the eye. I have pictures I want to post, it looks gnarly. It's sweet. -Bryce Ahh community blogging, that's the best! We had a great show tonight in Sterling Heights MI. It was cool to get to play an hour instead of the usual forty-five minute set. We are about to head back to Chicago. I'm so glad that they rescheduled the show so soon. It was a good day today. I slept in and got caught up on some needed rest. Played my guitar for a couple of hours. Ya know I don't mind the smell of chips. It's way better than what the bus usually smells like.

The Chicago show has been rescheduled, Lifehouse will be performing a full hour set in Detroit tomorrow, the 26th with the Goo Goo Dolls, and a full Hour set in Chicago on Monday. The Goo Goo Dolls have cancelled the Cleveland show on the 28th, sorry for the inconvenience.

We have been in the bus all day. It is about five o'clock and our only stop today was at a truck stop somewhere in Indiana. Truck stops around America are turning into little mini Walmarts. You got a couple of different options for resturants. You got a nice movie selection to choose from. There are cds (they even had that Garth Brooks side project when he changed his name and wore that black wig). I was impressed with the selection of beverages; and purchased a giant redbull. That was probably a mistake cause I am about to bounce off the walls right now in very tight quarters. The guys are in the back watching episodes of "Entourage", I have had my fill of television for the day so I have decided to go to the front and stare out at.....not much. I was flipping through the channels earlier and caught about half of Lost Boys. I love that movie. Next time I see Kiefer at Ironworks I'm gonna have to tell him that. Oh, to go back to the truck stop; they even have quality showers. Now I did not go check them out so I'm not sure if they are like high school gym style ( which I think is just cruel and unusual), or if they have a little more privacy. Regardless, I think showering at a truck stop might be a little awkward so I think I am gonna just hold out until we get to Detroit tonight. When are we going to get there I am losing my mind. Alright, there are only two things to do now to kill some time. One, go and see if Bryce wants to play poker. Or two, open up all the doors and play two hand touch football. That sounds like fun. Actually I just thought of one more option. We can put shaving cream on the faces of those who are napping. I think Rick will go for that one. Does anyone know of a good steakhouse in Detroit? If so comment back. I would love to stay and chat, but I have to go and stare out at........ not much. Until tomorrow,

Minnesota State Fair | Lifehouse | Diary

Back in the bus after the show. I'm really loving the vibe in Minnesota. Not only are you responsible for giving us Bob Dylan and Prince, you put on one of the finest state fairs I have ever seen. The people here are so friendly! I really enjoyed my stay so thank you for that. The Chicago show was rescheduled for Monday. Looking forward to going back to the hopefully not so "windy city". That should be a fun show. And tomorrow we have the day off in Detroit.
I was looking through some of the comments on our website and myspace page and wanted to answer a few questions. Ever since this record came out I noticed that there are alot of overseas fans wondering when we are going to tour Australia, Japan, and Europe. I just want you to know that I am so excited to play shows in all of these places. It has been so long since we have toured overseas, and we just want our fans over there to know that we cannot wait to see you again! I believe the record is going to be released next year in Europe, so we are hoping to do a full tour in 2008.
Also there were alot of questions about the Hilary Duff shows, and I just wanted to let you know what happened. We were told that it was going to be a Pop Rock show and it turned out to be more dance oriented. So musically it just did not fit. The people we were playing in front of were also a little younger than we were use to..... Alot of seven year olds. Not that there is anything wrong with being seven. We have all been seven before. I hope to have a seven year old some day. We just felt it would be better to pull out of the rest of the dates. Everyone in her camp was very nice it just did not mesh well. So there you go.
I can't answer every single question, but I will be looking to answer some more in the coming weeks. I think it is time to hit the sack. So goodnight and I will check in with ya tomorrow.

Chicago show cancelled ( very bummed!) rescheduled for Monday | Lifehouse | Diary

The Chicago show with the Goo Goo Dolls was cancelled tonight due to weather. I'm kind of bummed. We have spent a couple of days in this wonderful city, and have been so excited to play this show. Don't quote me but I believe they are trying to rebook the show either Saturday or Tuesday. I was sitting up in my hotel room for like an hour just watching the lightning, it was crazy! Yes I still cannot get on line on my computer so I am in the lobby with the vintage computer. Ya know I think I've grown attached to this "old fellow". He reminds me of being nine years old and playing "space invaders" or "Pac Man". With any luck, when we are back in town to play the show we will stay in the same hotel. Then I can spend some more quality time with this seasoned professional. I have about three hours to kill before bus call. So I am debating whether to give the not so amazing Subway across the street another shot, or go to this place called "Potbelly sandwiches" ( I think that's what it its called). I wish they had this place back home, it was amazing! When you are on the road finding good food can really make your day. I'm really sorry to anyone who planned on going to the show tonight, but we will be back soon. Until tomorrow,

Just got back from the PBS show. We had a great time. The crowd was amazing! The sound people were really good. Overall, it was a great day. My only problem with the day was lunch. We are staying right next to a Subway, which I was kind of excited about because it's a healthy alternative to Mcdonalds (not that there is anything wrong with Mcdonalds, The Big Mac is a fine sandwich). Anyway, the lady working there refused the "team effort". I asked for onions, she decided to give me olives. I asked for green peppers, she decided to dump a hand full of...... I don't know exactly what they were, but they were not green peppers; they weren't even green! I hate to complain. I just take Subway very personally. I'll put a call into "Jared" tomorrow. Just kidding.

We have an early lobby call tomorrow for a radio station visit so I think I am going to hit the sack. Oh, by the way to show you my commitment to these recent blogs, I have to share this information with you. I can't get online in my room for some reason, so I am in the hotel lobby in the business center. I haven't typed on a vintage computer like this since seventh grade. Goodnight.... and see ya tomorrow...... Yes I will find a way to blog even on this vintage computer....

We just flew into Chicago a couple of hours ago. The flight was a bit bumpy, but regardless the whole flying in a huge metal container scares me a bit. They say it is safer to fly than to drive. I'll take my bets with the crazy LA multitasking soccer mom. Seriously, flying in airplanes is a bit sketchy. I think it might have been our pilots first flight so I'll cut him a break. We are alive and well in Chicago, and we just had an amazing dinner. I'm back at the hotel now getting ready for bed, and felt compelled to write a little something about this city. I always associate Chicago with Michael Jordan. He was my hero growing up, and still is in my opinion one of the most amazing men on earth. I remember watching one of the early 90's playoff games from a trailer in Port Hadlock, Washington. I hated that trailer but when I was watching MJ, I might as well have been at the Four Seasons. He was poetry in motion, a true inspiration! I am hoping someday to get to meet him. Nevermind if I did get to meet him I would probably say something stupid like " remember when you hit that game winning shot against Utah...... that was awesome!" I guess some dreams should stay dreams. Tomorow we are doing a show that will air on PBS, and the next day we are back on stage with the Goo Goo Dolls. Goodnight and see ya tomorrow

I had a great day today. First of all Rick and I had one of the best burgers in the world at this dive burger joint. Then we picked up Bryce and went to this amazing vintage clothing store called "Denim Revival". Now the pants that we bought might not fit tonight because of the burger, but they will look great tomorrow after we eat a healthy six inch sandwich from Subway ( You know ,for as much as we talk about Subway I think they should fund our tour). Anyway, I'm home now and just finished packing for the tour. I hate that feeling like you're forgetting something. Usually it is the most important thing that you are forgetting like; your cell phone, your wallet, your computer ( don't worry I'll remember my computer and continue this "Blog Binge").
So the main point of why I am writing tonight, is this. I was going through some old song journals and I stumbled upon some old fan letters. It really moved me, some of the stories of how our music connected to these people in some way. I just want to say, thank you from the bottom of my heart, to everyone out there who has supported our band through the years. You are the ones that keep Lifehouse alive! Tomorrow we hit the road again, and I cannot wait , because it is such a pleasure to play our music in front of such amazing people. Until tomorrow,

Goodwill | Lifehouse | Diary

So for many years now I have done most of my clothing shopping at vintage clothing stores. Sure around town there are plenty of trendy high end vintage stores, but I have found that sometimes the real treasures that no one knows about are at Goodwill. Plus the selection to choose from is enormous. You need a sofa, there ya go. You need a hippi lava lamp; well there ya go. You need a vintage VHS of "On Golden Pond" ( Henry Fonda was wonderful in that by the way), or a used Wilson Philips album ( disregard that one), well there ya go. There is one section, however that should be avoided at all costs..... The second hand underwear section. There is an invisible line that you don't cross with professional vintage shoppers, and buying used "undies" is one of them. Pretty much anything else goes but you don't buy used underwear.

So here is my problem. About once a year I go through my closet and donate a bunch of clothes to Goodwil ( vintage clothing needs to be a river not a swamp, keep the forward motion going to the next generation). I'm starting to clean out my sock and underwear drawer, and I think to myself "Am I committing the cardinal sin by donating used boxers". I really don't know if I'm in some way breaking my own rule. Granted a used pair of "Calvins" might be a little less harmless than a sweet pair of Hanes from the year 1973, but still rules are rules. I'm really sorry to go all "Marlon Rando" on you but I need some clarity.

You Know what I'm going to see Rick and Bryce tomorow to do a little vintage clothing shopping. I know Rick is a seasoned veteran, I think I'll ask him about this gray area. Until then, the boxers will just have to stay in a bag in the shed. Ya know I feel better now it's good to talk about it. I really am sorry to waste your time with my random chatter, but I'm bored. Two days left until we hit the road. I can't wait. Goodnight and see ya tomorrow.

Acoustic version of First Time | Lifehouse | Diary

Ok, so I'm on my way to Ironworks to record an acoustic version of First Time. All of a sudden there is this huge traffic jam in front of me (that's not that weird because LA traffic sucks, even on a Saturday). There was an accident so I slow down like everybody else, luckily nobody was hurt, but I swear I know who caused the wreck. Earlier on the road I saw a woman who was eating an egg mcmuffin ( I know because it is a fine sandwich), talking on the phone, and putting her lipstick on. To me if you are going to eat a fine sandwich like an egg mcmuffin, why taint the taste with the flavor of a strawberry lipstick. I don't have proof that she caused the accident, but if she did'nt; she is one of the best drivers I have ever seen.

The day was amazing! I love being in this band. It blows my mind that I can live on a tour bus for months with these guys; come home for a couple of days, and then have so much fun in the studio. We should be sick of eachother by now. Rick had us laughing all day like usual and it was great spending some time with Jude (our Manager-Producer-Bro). The acoustic version of First Time turned out great! I really think everyone is going to like it.

We leave Tuesday, and I am really looking forward to getting back out on the road. This Goo Goo Dolls tour has been amazing and I think the rest of this summer is going to be great. I will check in with ya tomorow.

We've been home the last couple of days, and it's been nice having a little time off. It's always a little strange coming home when you've been on the road for a month and a half; my dog Beeker definitely let me know she was not happy with me for being gone so long. She chewed up my suit case and left me a very fragrant surprise inside. I had to hand it to her, that took some serious skill and concentration...... so I let it slide. Tomorow me and the boys are going in to Ironworks to record an acoustic version of First Time. I love doing acoustic versions to our songs, and I really think that this one is going to be special. Just got off stage in Tampa Florida. Had an amazing show. Florida is an amazing place, the people are very friendly and very tan. The only problem is the humidity. It reminds me of sitting in the sauna at my Fathers old gym. I was twelve and I think I am still mentally scarred from all the naked fifty year old men walking around in the locker room. Theres nothing more awkward than two naked fifty year olds talking business together. Heading out to Seattle in the morning to play a show and spend some time with my family. I miss Seattle very much and am always excited when we pass through town. I grew up in Port Orchard, Washington along with the other ten people who lived there. It's a beautiful place, and a couple hours outside of Seattle; a little tid-bit of info for you to completely disregard. Everyone is out in the van yelling at me to go back to the hotel so I have to go. We have to wake up at six-thirty in the morning, usually thats when we go to bed. Goodnight.

In between the traveling, partying, meeting new friends and playing shows for thousands of people every night, I have re-discovered my love for gaming. I'm not talking about online "world of warcraft-esque" gaming, or gambling gaming, I'm talking about Wade and I going toe to toe at NBA 2K7 on our sweet XBOX 360. You see, one of the perks of being in a rock band sometimes is getting the free shwag. Last month we were fortunate enough to recieve a shiny new XBOX. Thanks! This thing is so powerful it actually drains the battery of our bus. Wade and I played to the wee hours last night on our day off in Atlanta. I was up by 10 in the 4th quarter but Tony Parker kept drawing fouls and hit a game winning 3 point buzzer beater. I was very emotional, I still have the bitter taste of defeat in my mouth. But alas, today I shall wash it out with a severe ass kicking. I'm a nerd.

Lifehouse kicks off album release with great In-store! | Lifehouse | News

Lifehouse rocked the “TO” at a special instore at Best Buy #112 Thousand Oaks.

The line for the instore began wrapping around the building at lunchtime. When the band came out to begin their four-song set around 6:45pm, the guys were met with screams and applause from around 400 fans. The audience was mostly teens, and the attendees skewed predominantly female. As the band played the first notes of “You and Me,” I knew that the instore was going to be a success as the music inspired the crowd to sing along and sway. The intimate setting really allowed all the band members to shine, and they were very appreciative of their audience. At one point, Jason said “I never knew we had so many fans in Thousand Oaks!”

The acoustic version of “First Time” was a special treat, and “Hanging By a Moment” was a huge crowd-pleaser. The audience begged for one more tune, and the group obliged by returning to the stage to perform “Broken” from Who We Are. After a brief break, the three musicians emerged again to sign CDs for a little over an hour. They took the time to engage everyone in conversation at the signing table as they autographed discs and liner notes. The band’s music means so much to their fans, and there was really positive buzz from the attendees regarding the songs on the new CD. The guys were also able to catch up with some old friends at the event which seemed to make the night even more special.

Featuring the songs, First Time, Broken and Storm, the album, "Who We Are" is a return to the basics of what made Lifehouse first form the band while still teenagers in suburban California.

The approach was also pretty fresh. The band didn’t record demos before entering the recording studio. Jason Wade brought in a skeleton of a song and the group worked on it as a unit. “Nobody really knew what they would be playing,” explains drummer, Rick Woolstenhulme, the musical purist of the group. “We just cut it, listened to it and realized it was pretty electric…the kind of song where you just turn up the radio.”

The benefit for Wain McFarlane was a sucess. It was a very eclectic evening of music that went over well with the just as equally eclectic audience. Some familiar faces were in the crowd. Some highlights of the night included Jason singing an acoustic version of "Time after Time" with Cyndi Lauper during her set... and Wain coming on stage to sing some of "Hanging". Very cool.

On Saturday, March 10, 2007 Lifehouse, Cyndi Lauper, Mint Condition and Soul Asylum will Play at the Myth in Maplewood, MN to save the life of Wain McFarlane. Wain is a musician and friend dying from Kidney Disease. He needs not only a new kidney, but the financial resources to pay for all of the aftercare. On March 10th, everyone is hoping to raise enough money to benefit Wain’s healthcare & living expenses for at least the next 365 days.

nov27. Back to the studio after a great Thanksgiving. This year I had Rick and family over to the house. It was great to take a couple days off and enjoy a Tofu-turkey. Just kidding we had a real turkey. Rick and I actually got our hunting gear on and killed our own turkey. Ok it was the neighbors turkey, but he had to take one for the team. On the way to the studio the other day sitting in wonderful bumper to bumper traffic I heard a new John Mayer song called Gravity. What an unbelievablle song. The record is really starting to take shape,there are probably nine or ten songs almost completed, and a hand full that we are still working on. Bryce is about to do a bass part on a song, so I guess Rick and I are going to go have an Indian leg wrestling contest. Jason

Hey What's Up,

I can't wait to get this record out. We have about nine tunes that are almost finished. A couple of the songs are rocking a little harder than our last record. "Who We Are" and "The First Time" are two of the strongest songs. Rick, Bryce, and I took a roadtrip to San Fransisco a couple of weeks ago for the Bridge School benefit. Neil Young was awesome and I got to meet Gillian Welsh - one of my favorite artists. It was a very inspiring weekend. I've been writing more on piano recently and I think a couple of the songs, "Sings Of Life" in peticular is gonna be a real nice color on the record. Rick as usual is making us laugh till our stomachs hurt, but we have yet to catch him on camera - he's shy. We'll get him eventually. Stay tuned -

Amazing show in San Mateo, thanks to the dancing ladies that came up on stage. We have reviews of the show up on some fansites. We have a tentative show added! We know it will be in Monterey, California in late september. All these Cali shows make everyone feel right at home... Thank you to everyone's suggestions for older songs to record for Album 4. Spirits and creativity levels are very high for the band, and everything is moving along smoothly. There are some amazing uptempo songs! So far the rough mixes sound great and the band is really excited to have the finished product. . The guys appreciate all the support through this.

It has been really nice being home for the last week or so; however it seems after a week my A.D.D kicks in and I miss that dirty old tour bus. I am looking forward to playing the Del Mar fair this week, I have a lot of family in San Diego and it is going to be great to see everyone. My birthdayis coming up and it seems once again I am going to be on the road. This will be the fourth birthday in six years that I will be on the road. This time I will be in Atlanta, which will be great because we mixed our first two records there, so we are familiar with the town and we have developed a deepand meaningful relationship with Ludacris. Oh, here is a little bit of information for you to completely disregard. I was walking down the street the other day and I walked right past Mike Tyson. I'm not the biggest boxing fan in the world, but as a child I did play my fair share of Mike Tyson'spunch out. So anyway I watched as two kids came up and asked for a picture with Mike. He looked at them with complete disgust like he wanted to gnaw there ears off.It made me think, famous people can be so strange sometimes. If you wanted to blend in and be left alone, why would you get the most recognizable face tattoo in the world. I just realized my post is turning in to a very strange short novel written by the ran tings of a crazy man. There goes my A.D.D. again. Time to reel it back in. We are getting ready to make another record and I wanted to tell you that we are going to post littlesnippets of new songs on a regular basis. This time we want everyone to feel like you are there making the record with us. We are going to shoot video of us recording in the studio, us just hanging out, and little interview pieces. We are all looking forward to the process and we have a handful ofnew songs we are dying to record. Oh, one more thing I've been reading a lot of poetry the last couple of months. I didn't appreciate the beauty of poetry growing up (seeing as I was home schooled and spent too much time playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out) but I can't get enough of it now. I am chilling on the roof of my apartment next to the pool and it is beautiful outside. There is a fantastic view of downtown LA from up here. I live very close to Mann's Chinese Theatre in the heart of Hollywood, so it's never a dull moment. I share an apartment complex with a lot of Hollywood types.. actors, musicicans, dancers, hipsters... Some dude is up here practicing his lines for his next audition. The guy next to me is typing away on his laptop. Probably writing his next screenplay.

We have a couple of weeks off from touring. I'm looking forward to making music, hanging out up here, playing ball ant the Y, and checking out LA music. There are so many amazing underground bands work so hard playing the Sunset Strip.. My favorite venue is the Viper Room, it has the best sound in town.

The new Keane record comes out Tuesday!

....And it is hailing like mad outside. The middle of the country is cabable of some pretty crazy weather. The other night we sat in the driver's lounge of the bus to look at what was left of the hurricaine Katrina devastation, it was like a third world country. Miles and miles of abandoned houses, lots, malls, cars, etc.. Most of the city has pulled itself together (on a better note). The show in New Orleans was as crazy as ever. We stayed next to harrah's casino. That was nice. :)

On this tour, the band is having a blast...changing up the set every couple of nights with some old songs like Quasimoto, Trying, and even ones not released yet, like "Storm". Maybe it will be on album 4...

On our way to Canada tonight eh...Bryce's home. He's going to eat some flapjacks and drink some Moosehead beer.

It's been smooth sailing for our May/June tour... We're hanging in New Orleans..Things are great in the Lifehouse camp. One highlight so far has to be when we invited the famous Beatle Bob of St. Louis to come up on stage during Rebel Rebel to cut a rug. It was pure awesomeness.

Meanwhile, preperations have been underway for album 4, hopefully demos will begin in august. All we can say is it's gonna rock.

The april showers tour has come to an end, but it's just the beginning of the touring season for Lifehouse. They go back out the end of May. Later spring and summer shows keep adding on, including a Canadian date on July 14th. The guys are flying back to LA for some rest, then a show in San Diego and Vegas.
Jason says " I'm excited for Vegas, I get to play Blackjack with my favorite dealer Emir Johavanich. He gave me five blackjacks in a row and I gave him a free Stanley Climbfall CD. It was sweet."

-Had to update because this show was pretty much off the hook, (well, all of them are). The Hampton Beach Casino doesn't have a casino at all. It's gutted out and converted into a big concert hall.. but the sound in the room and the crowd were "mamazing" (quote from guitar tech Winnie the paul)

Despite their heavy tour schedule, Lifehouse has found the time to record an amazing new song called "Good Enough" for the soundtrack to the upcoming animated blockbuster 'The Wild' which will be released by Disney Pictures April 14th

The movie features an odd assortment of animals from the New York Zoo – including a lion, a giraffe, an anaconda, a koala, and a squirrel – who discover what a jungle the city can be when one of their own is mistakenly shipped to the wild and they embark on a dangerous mission to rescue him. This wild computer-animated comedy-adventure boasts an impressive vocal ensemble including among others – Kiefer Sutherland (as the respected lion leader, Samson), and Greg Cipes (as Samson’s son, Ryan).

The film's soundtrack also boasts a new song called "Good Enough" from Lifehouse. The song follows a dramatic confrontation between Samson and Ryan. Check out this affecting song on 'The Wild' soundtrack that's out now.

Hey everyone,
Our 3 and a half week journey has been wrapped up. We're back home in LA once again and this time, it's the warmest part of the country. It's like summer here; I have been up on my roof finally getting some sun. It's good to be home, but January will always be a highlight for this record. The shows have been amazing, and you guys have been crazy cool. some highlights of the tour:

-Partying with Mozella's band
-watching family guy on the bus
-getting used to a wulitzer on stage
-The one late night wallmart stop
-Vegas and Atlantic City
-Jason in the crowd on "pump it up"
- after show meet and greets
-you guys

On another note...February will be fun too, I think my grandma will be excited to see us on "One life to Live" on tuesday. Maybe I'll watch it while ironing some clothes..shooting a daytime
soap was pretty interesting; they have decent catering. We are going to houston to play You and Me at the celebrity baskteball game this weekend. I wish we could play in the game...We're good, but Justin Timberlake and Nelly
have probably been practicing, maybe we're in next year.
Anyways, Thanks for selling out the shows and supporting us. It means alot.

Hey we're out here in Bloomington Indiana - on the road again. It was nice to have a couple weeks off. I played with my dogs Beeker and Charlie.

The best thing that comes out of all this touring is seeing fans that we haven't seen for four or five years. It's amazing they have been so loyal to us and shown so much love for the music.

We had a day off today. So Bryce and I went to a gym to play basketball. We played for two in a half hours and now I have blisters on my feet the size of Bloomington, IN.

Rick chilled at the hotel. When I first met Rick he had no tattoos, but I have a suspicion that by the end of the year he'll have full sleeves. Bryce and I tried to convince him to get "You and Me" tattooed on each butt cheek. But I don't think he went for it. (Check the picture section for his tats. Click Here

We just left Philadelphia playing our third show debuting "midnight in philly" for the first time live. It's so good to see so many familiar faces from everybody that has followed us through the years. And it feels so good to be on the road again.

After two in-a-half years of not touring, Rick and I are enjoying the change of tempo. We almost had to Indian leg wrestle to figure out who had the bottom bunk. Instead, we played Texas hold em’ and Bryce tried to take it.

I also wanted to let everybody know about Rocco Deluca. Rocco is opening for us for all of these upcoming tour dates. His music is amazing.

Lifehouse's self-titled Geffen Records release debuts at #10 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart this week with over 62,000 units sold. As the band gears up to head out on a U.S. club tour their current single, "You And Me," can be heard on radio stations across the country and is currently # 9 on the Adult Top 40 Radio chart. The song is going for adds at mainstream Top 40 radio this week.

So I'm sitting here pondering my multi colored vintage Gretsch drums that I'm playing. Why is it that old stuff is so cool......Like the little gadget called Speak and Spell...It can do so much. It's handheld which means you can take it to the market or wherever.That is some damn cool stuff. I love old stuff....even old people. Old people are full of wisdom and old vintage clothes. They normally have cooler hair do's than the younger kids now days .Some times they have really old awesome sunglasses.

What's up everybody,

Rick, Jason and I are chilling in the hotel lobby in Columbus Ohio.... Last night Jason sang the national anthem for the Cavaliers/Lakers game in Cleveland... I think we were more nervous than him, he sounded great and the Cavs won... I think he had a pretty sweet time, Lebron James had some huge dunks. Afterwards we played some texas hold-em, my favorite game.

I wanted to thank you all for the warm welcome I have recieved since I joined lifehouse. Everyone has been really cool, and I am lucky to have found a band that is already like a family to me. I have been having the time of my life with these guys since September, and good things are happening. This tour has been pretty cool, and its over in just a couple days.. Then off to shoot for the Smallville episode... We are flying to Vancouver so I get to see some of my family. Aw yeah, good old Canada eh.

I wanted to wish everyone happy holidays. I’m packing a few things to take to Washington for a few days. I’m visiting my mom and sis, for Christmas this year. I’ve just been hanging out at home watching Cleveland Cavaliers games on NBA TV (Yes, I finally have a television). We’ve also been rehearsing a couple of days a week getting ready to tour next year. Check the picture section for a picture of my dogs. Charlie (the chocolate lab) is a Laker fan, Beaker, however is a huge Lebron James fan and watches those games with me most of the time. Anyways here is a vintage song called “Midnight in Philly” that I wrote some time ago on our last tour.

I'm hanging out at home watching my little dog drag a giant Shrek toy around my house. He's quick. But enough about my dog, Lifehouse has been jammin' a few times a week, preparing for the release of our new album. We're stoked that Bryce is in the band, there is a great chemistry between the three of us...we can't wait to get back on tour again, we love playing live.

Our daily schedule: We rehearse for a few hours, hang out a bit, rehearse some more and then we head over to our favorite Mexican restaurant Don Cuco's. It's good food, really. I refer everyone to them, and still no free T-shirt. After our lunch extravaganza we go back to the studio and continue to rehearse.

For the last month Jason and Rick have been looking for a bass player. They held auditions in Los Angeles, but had no luck with the auditioning process. Most of the guys that they auditioned could play and play well, however, they were looking for something more than just that. At the end of seeing a ton of some really good bass players they were dumbfounded. Bryce Soderberg rolled down to the rehearsal studio where they were practicing. After playing a couple of songs Jason and Rick knew that the vibe was right and Bryce was working out well. They didn’t want to make a hasty decision right off the bat, so they invited Bryce back to play with them again. He came back a couple days later and the guys played again and presto, Rick and Jason knew it was a perfect fit. They asked Bryce to be the third member of Lifehouse and he accepted in late October. Bryce is a really down to earth guy who is originally from Canada. He has been playing all over with some different bands for the last four years.

I’ve also been told that Lifehouse has booked some tour dates in December, 2004. These are gonna be local shows (sorry to the U.K. and all the other far away places) and I think they are going to be playing at small clubs (limited tickets). As soon as I get the info I’ll post it in the “ROAD” section of the website.

Oh yeah, the album… OK… I think they are talking about releasing it in early to late February, 2005. So get your phones ready cause their first single will come out in January (I hope). I’ll post all the local radio stations so you guys can call in and request the song. I’m not sure what the song is going to be, but this next album is off the hook.

And finally, Jason, Rick, and Bryce are going to be coming on the site and posting more now. They’ve been busy with finding Bryce, but now they’ll come on every once in a while and give you a piece of their mind.

We're out here in Easton Maryland at an awesome studio/House on the Chesapeake Bay. It's nice to be recording in a studio where you can actually see the daylight, instead of being stuck in the dark L.A. studios. We record all day, then take the boat out at about 6 to take a break. We cruise the boat to the local crab shack, which is apparently what Easton is famous for.

The record is about half way finished, and we've recently been doing vocals and guitars. We're very excited about the new songs, and on in particular we wanted you guys to hear. It's called Come Back Down. We thought we would give everyone a sneak peakat the new record by playing a very rough take. The vocals are the rough live takes, and the mix is right off the board. It will sound much different when we finish it, but we wanted you guys to be involved in the process of making this record.
